Three Turkish diplomats were killed by unidentified gunmen Wednesday in a shooting at a restaurant in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdish region, Kurdish security officials and Turkey’s foreign ministry said. The Turkish deputy consul to the region was among those killed. Kurdish security forces have sealed off the area and are searching for the attackers. In response, Turkey’s presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin vowed on Twitter: “The necessary response will be given to those who committed this treacherous attack.”
