BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:10 A.M.) – An officer from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) told Al-Masdar on Sunday evening that all claims of infighting between the Russian and Iranian armed forces are ‘lies’.
“These lies are spread by terrorist supporters,” the officer said, adding “we are in Deir Ezzor, there are no problems between any of us.”
The “terrorist supporters” is a reference to opposition activists and media who began spreading these reports last week.
According to their claims, the Iranian and Russian forces clashed near the Deir Ezzor Governorate town of Al-Mayadeen; this allegedly resulted in two Russian soldiers being wounded.
This is not the first time that opposition activists have made up these stories; they previously made the same claims in the Hama Governorate.
In regards to the Hama Governorate, the opposition activists made up stories that the 4th Armored Division and Tiger Forces were engaged in fierce clashes with one another.
Both the Tiger Forces and 4th Armored Division would laugh off these claims as fiction.
