BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – An Instagram account belonging to an alleged Russian pilot posted a video on Wednesday that showed a Russian fighter jet makinfna dangerous pass ahead of a U.S. aircraft in an undisclosed location in Syria.
According to the Defence-blo, who first posted about this, a likely Russian Su-30SM fighter jet made a dangerous pass ahead of a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper Drone as it was flying over Syria.
“It should be noted that MQ-9 Reaper is an armed, multi-mission, medium-altitude, long-endurance remotely piloted aircraft that has turboprop engine. Russian fighter can produce “jetwash” or wake turbulence that that poses a serious risk to nearby aircraft and especially for remotely piloted aircraft,” the publication claimed.
It is not clear how old the video, nor if it is actually in Syria; this video first appeared on the alleged pilot’s Instagram account.
The Russian and U.S. forces in Syria maintain a deconflication line that is supposed to reduce dangerous situations like this; however, the two world powers have come across one another in previous flights before.
