BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:20 P.M.) – The Russian Air Force has begun launching airstrikes over the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate, today, joining the Syrian military in their ongoing attack against the jihadist rebels.
Russian jets flying out of the Hmeimim Airbase reportedly conducted several airstrikes over the Hama-Idlib axis this afternoon, hitting a number of targets belonging to Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Izza.
The Russian Air Force mostly focused on the Khan Sheikhoun area, where there were reports of jihadists amassing for a new counter-offensive to retake the key town of Kafr Naboudeh in the neighboring Hama Governorate.
The Russian Air Force also targeted some jihadist sites inside the Al-Ghaab Plain region that is located between the Hama and Idlib governorates.
