BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:40 P.M.) – The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham launched a suicide attack on the Syrian Arab Army’s positions near the town of Hasraya on Thursday.

The suicide attack, which was carried out in a vehicle, managed to hit the Syrian Army’s positions, causing a massive explosion that was captured in a video by the jihadist group’s official media wing.

While the suicide attack did hit its intended target, the jihadist rebels were unable to retake Hasraya from the Syrian Army after several hours of battle.

Shortly after the battle, the Syrian Arab Army announced a ceasefire in northwestern Syria; it was later confirmed on Friday morning, following a session at the Astana Peace Conference in the Kazakh capital.
