BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:20 A.M.) – The Israel-based Image Satellite International company released a new satellite image this past week showing Syria’s S-300 system near the city of Masyaf.

Based on the satellite image, Syria has completed its installation of the S-300 system that was delivered by the Russian Armed Forces on October 1st, 2018.

“The images of the three erected launchers at various times in Syria indicate that they are probably operational,” ISI reported on their website.

While the installation of the S-300 system may be complete, the last time Al-Masdar reached out to the Syrian military regarding the use of the anti-aircraft missile, the latter said their forces were still training to use them.

Furthermore, the satellite image was released before the Israeli Air Force attacked the Damascus and Homs governorates. The Syrian military only used its S-200 system to defend against the Israeli attack.

The Russian Ministry of Defense made the decision to deliver the S-300 system to Syria after the downing of their IL-20 reconnaissance plane off the coast of Latakia.

The Syrian military downed the Russian aircraft with an S-200 system; however, Russia accused the Israeli Air Force of using their plane as cover during the incident on September 17th, 2018.
