Islamic State Carries Out a Surprise Attack Against the Syrian Arab Army

BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:30 P.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) carried out a surprise attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in rural Deir Ezzor this morning.
ISIS began their assault by ambushing a number of Syrian Army soldiers along a road in the Badiyah region of the Al-Mayadeen District.
This ambush by the Islamic State in the Badiyah region of Al-Mayadeen resulted in several Syrian soldiers being killed and wounded, a source told Al-Masdar News.
Shortly after the Islamic State ambush, the Syrian Army sent reinforcements into the area to combat the remaining terrorists in the area.
The Syrian Army was able to kill some of the Islamic State fighters before the remaining slipped back into the desert.
The Islamic State has stepped up their attacks against the Syrian Army and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) since they lost their last pockets east of the Euphrates and in the Al-Safa region.
