BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:45 P.M.) – The Iraqi Armed Forces have begun the third phase of “Operation Will of Victory” (Arada Al-Nasr), which targets the remaining Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) sleeper cells in Iraq.

The Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations of Iraq, Special Forces Team, Abdel-Emir Rashid Yarallah, told the Sputnik News Agency in a statement on Monday that the Iraqi Armed Forces had begun the third phase of the operation, with the primary target being the Diyala countryside.

“Under the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and under the supervision of the Joint Operations Command, the third phase of the Will of Victory operation was launched at 6:00 A.M. this morning in Diyala,” Yarallah stated.

He said the operation is specifically targeting the Islamic State sleeper cells in the northern part of Muqdadiyah District.

The operation is led by the Iraqi Army’s 5th Division and will include Hashd Al-Sha’abi and the Diyala police forces.

The previous phase of Operation Will of Victory concluded on Thursday, July 25th.
