Cyclist, Hurtles Down the Steep and Winding Streets in the French Hilltop City

This is the hair-raising moment a mountain biker careers down a flight of steps and narrowly avoids ploughing into a group of students.

The cyclist, known as Frofox, hurtles down the steep and winding streets in the French hilltop city of Blois, weaving between pedestrians and zooming around sharp bends.

But as he comes over the top of the steps, he suddenly sees the seated students who only move in the nick of time to allow the cyclist to pass inches away from them.

Thankfully, the only casualty is a toppled handbag and the students fall about laughing over their close shave.

Frofox’s headcam captured the near miss which shows him avoiding the group by inches.

The 46-second clip shows the gloved biker speeding down a flight of steps and on to a narrow cobbled alleyway.

Although the streets are fairly empty, he is forced to swerve around people as he makes the descent through the town.

He races through a crossroads and heads for another set of steps which he is poised to shoot down.

But as he comes over the top, the huddled students loom into view and he is less than a second from smashing into them.

Instead he cries out, and the nearest student in a baseball cap rotates his body and shifts to the side to allow the biker to whisk past him

Trampling over a handbag, Frofox carves a path between the group and avoids hitting them by inches

Frofox does not appear to brake, presumably because the sudden stop would send him flying over the handlebars, but he instead lets out a cry to warn the students.

The nearest boy, wearing a black baseball cap and a dark coat, rotates his body and shifts to the side to just avoid being smacked in the back, while another girl in Frofox’s path leaps out of the way.

The biker, who comes to a stop, makes a grovelling apology to the girls who seem gobsmacked.

But their shock is only brief and, realising that nobody is hurt, break out into fits of giggles.

After sharing the video on his YouTube channel, Frofox said: ‘All was good no one got hurt and we laughed about it.’
