BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:00 A.M.) – The British Navy is sending a third warship to the Persian Gulf amid increased tensions with Iran following the seizure of the latter’s Grace oil tanker off the coast of Gibraltar.

In an exclusive report, The Times journalist Lucy Fisher revealed that Great Britain is sending a third warship and tanker to the Persian Gulf.

Citing defense sources, Fisher said that this move by the British Navy has nothing to do with the increased tensions with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Persian Gulf.

The British Ministry of Defense reportedly declined to comment to the Sputnik News Agency. .

Britain’s Prime Minister Teresa May said on Tuesday that any escalation in the Gulf region between Western countries and Iran is not in the interest of anyone, adding that threats from the Islamic Republic to respond to the detention of their Grace 1 oil tanker.

“Our position has always been consistent: the escalation in the Gulf is not in the interest of anyone and we have repeatedly stressed this to the Iranians,” the Prime Minister’s spokesman said.
